Letter from the President:
Steve Schwartz
Welcome to the Rotary Club of Downtown Macon website.
Our club is proudly a group business and community involved leaders of Macon, Georgia, is one of three Rotary clubs in Macon. We were formed in 1994 and have continued to grow and leave our mark on our local and global community. The Rotary four way test guides us in our meetings, activities and social functions.
We meet weekly on Wednesday in the Monument Room at the Macon Coliseum with a great lunch, time for socializing, update on service to our community and some great speakers (check our Program Calendar for change of location). With the diverse composition of younger and older members, it is my goal to have the club leadership work to balance networking, socializing with community service to engage all members.
This year’s Reach within to Embrace Humanity, the 2011-2012 Rotary International theme as developed by Rotary International President Kaylan Banjeree. "In order to achieve anything in this world, a person has to use all the resources he can draw on. And the only place to start is with ourselves and within ourselves," Banerjee said. He also emphasized the family as a starting point in serving others. "The communities we live in are not built of individual people but of families -- families living in homes together, sharing their lives and their resources and their common destinies. Good families lead to good neighborhoods, and good neighborhoods build good communities."
Please feel free to contact one of our officers for a visit or to learn more about Rotary International and our Gold Award club. We also welcome Rotarians to visit.
All the Best,
Steve Schwartz
President 2011-2012
